This past Saturday marked the return of the annual South Platte Pro-Am Carp Slam. The day turned
out to be a beautiful day for carp fishing as the sun was shining, the wind was still and water visibility was good. Lots of big names entered this year’s slam like that of warm water fly fishing expert Barry Reynolds and famed fly fishing film personality Frank Smethurst and Clint Packo proved that last year’s showing was no fluke as he successfully defended his title with Will Rice, hooking 3 carp for a grand total of 83 inches!
The Carp Slam has become a cornerstone event in the Denver Fly Fishing Scene and has been an instrumental cause in raising money for stream restorations and improvements on Colorado’s South Platte. A special thanks to all the participants and fundraisers and a big congratulations to this year’s winners!
