It is that time of year again, spring is on the way out and another true Colorado summer is around the corner. Most of our regular fly-fishing rivers and streams are experiencing run off or at least high and off color water. The trout fishing is getting tough and many experienced friends and anglers start shifting gears to pursue other species on the fly…
Perhaps one of the most challenging and rewarding fish species on the fly is that of the Common Carp. Carp behave very similar to Bonefish, as they can be sight fished to as they tail and mud for aquatic creatures and insects on the bottom of ponds, reservoirs and rivers. Presentation is critically important, as your fly must be presented extremely close to the fish. Longer casts and delicate presentations are needed to consistently fool these fish. When you finally hook one, you are in for a true fish fight, as even averaged sized carp will make aggressive runs taking even the most experienced of anglers into their backing!
If you have never fly fished for Carp now is the time! There is more information and flies available for pursuing this great fish than ever before. However, the learning curve can be tough and frustrating so it is advisable to learn from an experienced angler and guide or take a fly-fishing class on warm water species.

Based on our popular "Learn to Catch a Trout in One Day" this all inclusive (fishing license not included), interactive workshop for beginner and advanced fly anglers alike includes actual water time, as the lab portion of the class takes place at a nearby warm water fishery. In this course, you will learn about fish identification, characteristics, fly selection, equipment, and fishing techniques for Bass, Carp, Wiper, Pike, and other warm water fish. This course combines class time with our revolutionary interactive lecture series.
Also, new this year we will be offering guided carp fishing trips on a true flats style skiff through our talented and seasoned guide T.K. Connor.
