At The Flyfisher Group and Lincoln Hills we believe that one can never be too philanthropic and that it is our responsibility to be an active member of the community, especially to help the advancement of young people. Recently, a friend of mine put me in touch with Eric Brownson and his son Wyatt. Wyatt is currently on the waiting list for a liver transplant. Wyatt is a great kid with a lot of fun energy and better yet he is obsessed with fly-fishing!
His dad, Eric informed me that Wyatt has been really bored because he is waiting for a new liver and can’t go to school or hang out with his friends. All he has been dreaming about has been fishing and when I heard this I invited Wyatt and his dad up to Lincoln Hills for a morning of fishing. Wyatt had fly fished before on the Green River so he took to the water like a pro and within minutes he was hooking fish! I really wanted to get Wyatt into a trophy-sized fish so we targeted the bigger holes and riffles. We lost a few monsters but finally Wyatt hooked a true trophy rainbow that moved up stream as quick as a lightning bolt! After a long fish fight and lots of running up and down the river we landed the trophy trout, a twenty-six inch colorful rainbow trout and Wyatt’s smile got as big as the fish!
Later that day Wyatt was kind enough to write me this email:
Dear Tyler thank you so much for the time of my life I had so much fun.
From Wyatt
Wyatt’s note made my day and I feel so fortunate to be associated with a place like Lincoln Hills where we really and truly can make dreams come true. It was inspiring to see such tenacity and enthusiasm in a young boy who is going through a most trying situation. I think I speak for all those at Lincoln Hills that our thoughts are with Wyatt and his family and I am sure that he will receive his transplant and one day will be using his skills as a fishing guide.
Tight Lines,
Tyler Bowman
