Well, The Frying Pan during the winter months still produces big numbers of fish. I made the trek last Sunday to find more snow covering the sides of the river than I could have ever imagined. Pulling off the side of the road wasn't really an option. There were only two or three pull offs on the way up to the dam and the side road that takes you to the dam was totally packed on each side. We could only drive to the dam and walk down stream. We started at the Bend Pool and worked our way down to the first bridge. There was one other person there when we started and only about 6 to 10 people we saw all day. The Peach Egg and Red Midge hatch was on! I probably landed close to twenty fish that day. I seemed to switch flies around, but the egg and midge combo was deadly. As hard as it was to leave I could only hope that the next guy in line could have as much luck as I did that day...
